Game Day at Café de Mello
Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 3:23PM Here at the Café de Mello, we treat these debates like a Sports Bar does play off games. We have the place festooned with white and blue (no red) balloons. "Go Obama!" and "Go Joe" pennants hang from the walls and "Let Palin be Palin" banners are draped from side to side of the room. What worse curse could one wish on Palin?
For last debate, we ran a special on stuffed-crust pizza (if you figure out the symbolism there, drop it in comments section, the best response will win a free copy of "God Is a Rubber Duck." That's for real!).
Tonight our special is chilidogs with onions, cheddar cheese, and sour cream. Bottled beer is at happy hour prices, and we're giving complementary shots of Yukon Jack in Palin's honor.
Tomorrow and Saturday (weather permitting), the staff is going fishing, but we will be up at about 7 AM Pacific, 10 AM Eastern, Friday with a special post: A musical play list for the end of the world. Saturday, if the world is still here, we will have fishing results and something I haven't decided on yet. Monday we will post the winner, if any, of the Stuffed Pizza Contest.
Good luck and sleep well!
