Sing a Happy Song

About 17 minutes ago the House of Representatives, accord to Reuters, "passed a rule allowing debate and a final vote," on the newly pork-laden Wall Street Bailout Bill.

We can thank those wonderful, fiscally conservative Republicans in the House and a few ultra-liberal Democratic Representatives for not passing the trimmer version of the bill last week. In addition to adding pork, this new bill has grown in complexity (not a good sign in Washington). Last week's bill was 110 pages; this one is over 400. If the house doesn't pass the bill this time, a strong man won't be able to lift the next version.

There is every indication that there is more fun to come with the bailout bill, including the very real possibility that the house will again reject it, or not vote on it if passage does not seem assured. This will be immediately followed by the end of western civilization, when China forecloses on our loans, and has to be given the entire west coast. (And I did so love California, I wonder if they will change the name?)

All of that will have to wait. Today the staff of the café de Mello is going fishing. It is cloudy, with a high chance of rain, but I do not care. I hear trout calling my name.

Today I will not even be listening to the news, and to fill the void, I have created an End of the World Playlist which I share with you here:

Every wrong done is a game plan
To that great and joyful day
Tell me there's a reason
Why I'm seeing what I do
Tell me there's heaven
