Fear Mongers and the Pre-inauguration Blahs

I got the munchies while trying to develop a subject for today's post, but all I could find was some low-sodium, high-fiber crackers that taste like crispy cardboard. They seemed symbolic of how I feel while looking at the news. Blah!

Paulson didn't attach enough conditions to the big financial sector bailout, and the financial institutions to which he gave the money seem to be doing everything but using it to fix the economy. Meanwhile, Paulson is fighting with FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair who seems to have come up with a reasonably priced program to help stem the tide of foreclosures. And the stock market continues to bounce around like a golf ball thrown in a tile bathroom. The country needs leadership, but we have to wait until Obama takes office. Blah!

Nutball conservatives like Georgia Congressman Paul Broun, and Sean Hannity continue to stoke fears of Barack Obama, comparing him to Hitler and claiming he has a Marxist agenda. I thought that maybe after the election these folks would turn their attention elsewhere, at least until Obama actually took office and started doing something. I mean it's not like they are going to get a do-over on the election. But no such luck. They keep running their mouths creating fear and division. Hopefully these folks are only playing to a conservative, Joe the Dumber base that already believes this stuff because you couldn't teach them anything else by beating them with a stick. Blah!

It feels like the ship is sinking slowly, and all we can do is hope it stays afloat until Barack can take charge and set a bucket brigade to bailing. Have a low-sodium, high-fiber cracker. Blah!
